Seeking God’s renewal for our church, community and city.

At Pinhoe Road Baptist Church we recognise that as each individual is transformed by the power and presence of God this has a knock on effect in our local community, across the city of Exeter and beyond!

We are a multi-generational and multi-national church made up of people who have called Exeter home their entire lives and those who have only recently moved to glorious Devon!

Planted in 1933, Pinhoe Road Baptist Church has seen ninety years of God’s faithfulness and we are excited for what’s next!

Our values

  • Jesus—the Word of God made flesh—conducted his ministry under the power and leadership of the Holy Spirit. If the Son of God was faithful to God’s inspired word and needed the Spirit, then we need to be the same!

  • Jesus modelled and taught what it looked like to love and glorify God, live a life committed to prayer, forgiveness, holiness and repentance, and to care for the poor and marginalised.

  • Church is about more than singing songs, seeing friends and having a coffee together—although these things are important! When we gather together we expect to encounter and experience the tangible, life-life-changing presence of God. We are committed to praying preparation for ourselves and for others.

  • We recognise that we are all on a journey and that none of us are perfect. Everyone is invited to join us on the journey—whatever their starting point—belonging before they might even believe.

  • God has been so generous to us by giving us his Son. We seek to honour God with thankful hearts and by giving generously of our time, our talents and our resources (physical and financial).

  • Whilst we embrace our tradition and our heritage, we seek to find new and innovative ways to share the Good News of Jesus, modelling his pioneering Spirit.

Our pastor

George Baker

George has been at Pinhoe Road since September 2017, serving as the Lead Pastor from February 2020. Prior to this George trained for ministry at Bristol Baptist College whilst in a rural Somerset church.

George is married to Lucie, has two children and a dog. He enjoys cycling, running and walking in his spare time. A fan of Southampton, recent disappointment has given way to finally enjoying being a football fan again.
